Adjusted basic salary

The official monthly basic salary for the selected staff category, grade and step, scaled by the working-time percentage. The duty-station coefficient is applied later.

Household allowance

Optional family allowance. This estimate adds 2% of adjusted basic salary plus €241.21 when household allowance is selected.

Dependent-child allowance

Monthly allowance for declared dependent children. The estimate uses €527.06 per child before the duty-station coefficient.

Education allowances

Combined estimate for declared school-age and preschool children: €357.62 per school-age child and €128.76 per preschool child.

Residence allowance

Expatriation allowance is estimated at 16% of basic salary, household allowance and child allowance, subject to a €714.89 minimum. Foreign-residence allowance uses 4%. Choose “None” when neither applies.

Correction coefficient

The duty-station cost-of-living adjustment applied to basic salary and allowances. A coefficient of 100% leaves the amount unchanged; lower or higher percentages reduce or increase it.

Gross remuneration

Adjusted basic salary plus modeled household, child, education and residence allowances, after the duty-station correction coefficient and before deductions.

Pension

Estimated pension contribution of 12.1%, applied to basic salary after working-time and duty-station adjustments.

Insurance and unemployment

Health insurance (1.7%) and accident insurance (0.1%) use adjusted basic salary. Temporary and contract agents may also pay an estimated 0.81% unemployment contribution above the applicable abatement.

Estimated EU tax

Progressive monthly EU income tax estimated from gross remuneration after pension and insurance contributions. Personal abatements and institution-specific decisions are not modeled.

Special levy

A 6.0% levy modeled on the eligible amount above €3,754.39 for non-contract grades 9 and above. It is zero when the modeled eligibility conditions are not met.

Estimated net pay

Gross remuneration minus modeled pension, insurance, unemployment, EU tax and special levy. This is a planning estimate, not an official payslip calculation.

Planning estimate only. Individual abatements, entitlements and institution-specific decisions can change final pay.

EU salary calculator FAQ

What is the current EU salary grid?

The calculator uses the latest published annual EU salary update shown beside the calculator. Rates remain current until a newer official update is reviewed.

Is basic salary the same as take-home pay?

No. Estimated take-home pay depends on EU tax, pension and insurance contributions, the special levy, duty-station correction coefficients and allowances.

Which staff categories are supported?

Officials and temporary agents on the AD and AST grid, AST/SC staff, and contract agents in function groups I to IV are included.

Which allowances are included?

The estimate models expatriation or foreign-residence allowance, household allowance, dependent-child allowance, education allowance and preschool allowance.

Is this an official EU calculation?

No. My EU Salary is an independent planning tool. Only the employing institution can issue an authoritative individual salary calculation.
